Antihistamine IV Add-On in NYC

When allergies flare, the pill in your medicine cabinet has to work its way through your stomach before it does anything. Zen IV Spa can deliver provider approved antihistamine support directly into your bloodstream as part of your drip. $35, when a medical provider finds it clinically appropriate for you.

SAFETY CALLOUT: This is a prescription add-on. It is given only after a medical provider reviews your intake. It cannot be requested and guaranteed at booking.

What It Does

An antihistamine blocks histamine, the chemical your body releases during an allergic response. Histamine is what produces itching, hives, a runny nose, and swelling, so blocking it may help calm those symptoms.

It is also used alongside anti nausea support in certain protocols, including our strongest pregnancy protocol, because it can help with nausea and with getting rest.

Why an IV Add-On Beats the Pill

An oral antihistamine has to pass through your digestive system before it reaches your bloodstream. That takes time, and if nausea is part of what you are dealing with, keeping a pill down may not be realistic in the first place.

By IV the full dose arrives immediately. That is the main reason it is on our menu rather than something we tell you to pick up at the drugstore.

Pricing

There is one dose tier. This add-on attaches to a drip rather than being sold as a standalone visit.

Add-On Dose Price
Antihistamine Standard IV $35

It Will Probably Make You Sleepy

This is the part to read before you book. This class of antihistamine commonly causes drowsiness, and given by IV it can land harder than the pill version you may be used to.

Do not drive after your appointment. Do not book it before something you need to be sharp for. If you have a meeting, a flight, or a workout afterward, tell your RN so it can be raised with the provider. Many clients treat this as a reason to book in the evening instead of the morning.

What People Use It For

  • Seasonal allergy symptoms that are not responding to what they have at home
  • Itching and hives
  • Nausea support as part of a larger protocol
  • Rest, when sleep is part of what the provider is aiming for
  • A precaution inside a bigger drip, when the provider wants it available

SAFETY CALLOUT: A severe allergic reaction is a medical emergency. If you have trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, or feel faint, call 911 or use your epinephrine auto injector. Do not book an IV and wait for a nurse.

Drips That Include It as an Option

The Ultimate IV ($699) and Black Card VIP ($999) both list antihistamine support among their optional prescription components. It also appears in the Hyperemesis Gravidarum Relief IV ($399) as part of that protocol. On any other drip it can be added for $35 with provider approval.

How Fast It Works

By IV it takes effect faster than a pill, and many clients notice the sedating effect during the drip itself. How much symptom relief you get, and how long it lasts, varies from person to person.

Who Should Not Get It

Our medical provider screens every client at intake. Tell your RN and put it on your form if any of these apply:

  • You need to drive or work immediately after your appointment
  • Narrow angle glaucoma
  • An enlarged prostate or trouble emptying your bladder
  • You already take a sedating antihistamine, a sleep aid, or another sedating medication
  • You have reacted badly to an antihistamine before
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding, unless a provider approves it as part of a specific protocol
  • You are over 65, where our provider may prefer a different option

Pairs Well With

For allergy symptoms, it is often paired with vitamin C and an extra liter of fluids. In nausea protocols it sits alongside anti nausea and anti acid support. Our provider decides the combination based on your intake, not from a menu.

Common Questions

  • Do I need a prescription to get this?

You do not need to bring one. Our medical provider reviews your intake and prescribes it if it is clinically appropriate. That review is part of every booking.

  • Can I request it and be sure I will get it?

No. We will pass your request to the provider, but prescription add-ons require clinical indication. Nobody here can promise it before that review.

  • Can I drive home afterward?

No. Plan for someone else to drive, or plan to stay put. That holds even if the pill version has never made you very drowsy.

  • Can I book this on its own?

No. It is an add-on to a drip, not a standalone visit.

  • How long does the drowsiness last?

It varies. Several hours is common. Do not plan anything that needs focus for the rest of the day.

  • Is it safe during pregnancy?

It appears in our hyperemesis gravidarum protocol, so it is used in pregnancy in specific situations with provider approval. It is not a routine pregnancy add-on. Tell your OB or midwife if you receive it.

  • Will it help a food allergy reaction?

Do not use us for that. A reaction that is progressing needs emergency care, not a scheduled IV. Call 911 or use your auto injector.

  • Is it covered by insurance or HSA/FSA?

Insurance does not typically cover wellness IV therapy. Some clients use HSA or FSA accounts, and we can provide an itemized receipt.

Licensed RNs and Medical Oversight

Every Zen IV Spa session is delivered by a registered nurse with hospital grade training. A medical provider reviews your intake form before any treatment. Our protocols follow standards used in clinical IV therapy, with safety screening for every add-on, every dose, and every client.

We use methylcobalamin B12, D3 cholecalciferol, and pharmaceutical grade ingredients sourced from licensed compounding partners. We do not substitute lower grade forms to cut costs.
